How would you define YT? And when did you create it?
YT is one of the hardest things that I’ve had to explain to people; it’s not an acronym. It doesn’t really have to be. People ask all the time what it stands for but the name was kind of an accident. For me YT symbolizes the idea of finding art in everything. It became a style for us, and we started cataloguing everything what we did and how we dress and our way of doing things as YT. For us it was an expression. YT is raw, and rustic; the idea of art in all sorts of things.
Yt goes all the way back to 2003, when I was in high school. It mostly started because of our love for music. Originally we started as YET BORED. The name was just given for whatever music and lyrics we’d come up with. The whole story behind “YT” was because the “E” did not fit in our car plates at the DMV, so we took the “E” out and kept it YTBored for a while, hence the whole YT. It seemed catchier anyway. I’ve always been into art, drawing and photo-shoots, so later on all of this became Yet Bored designs. With time it gave birth to YT Clothing, which transferred all of our love for music, and art into t-shirt designs. I kept drawing and painting with the same idea of utilizing my art as YT designs, and it just kind of started from there. There are a lot of simple things in my work which I make real, I give them life. Whatever meaning is left to say about YT, which I can’t define, I’ll just let my drawings speak for themselves- Brianna Parra
